Nobel laureates visit Lund
Two of this year's Nobel laureates in Physics will visit Lund University and will give public lectures. The lectures are open to all interested.
Nobel laureates in Physics Gérard Mourou and Donna Strickland will talk about their research in laser physics, which led to the invention of the so-called CPA technique. Thanks to this technique, it became possible to design compact laser systems that deliver ultra short laser pulses of high pulse energy. Such lasers can be used for everything from eye surgery to pure basic research.
Before Donna Strickland, who also did the research as part of her doctoral project, only two women have received the Nobel Prize in Physics (in 1903 and 1963).
The visit is arranged by Lund Laser Centre and the Department of Physics.
Where: Kårhuset Aula, LTH, John Ericssons väg, Lund
When: Friday 14 December, 15:15 to 17:00.
