Mötesplats Rydberg - How to address the use of AI in physical science and education?
How to address the use of AI in physical science and education?
With Armin Tavakoli, Associate senior lecturer at Mathematical Physics.
Abstract
In the last month, commercially available AI models have reached a new level. They can now largely generate some forms of scientific discovery with minimal human contribution. This poses a variety of challenges for academia and education, and it raises many questions that need to be addressed in the near future. This talk, I will give an overview of what is now possible using these tools. Then I will attempt to structure the different challenges pertaining to (i) grants and hiring, (ii) science itself and (iii) education at university level, as well as air some thoughts for solutions. I invite to a broader discussion of what needs to be done.
