Mötesplats Rydberg - Invisible Diversity Dimensions
Invisible Diversity Dimensions
With Louise Carvalho, Diversity & Inclusion Programme Leader at CERN.
"Dear Colleagues,
We are pleased to invite you to a special presentation dedicated to "invisible diversity dimensions". Louise Carvalho, Diversity & Inclusion Programme Leader at CERN, will conduct an "Invisible Dimensions Poll" for IR using Mentimeter. The aim is to raise awareness about the differences that unite us, and to strengthen empathy and inclusion among the colleagues. This interactive session takes about 45’ with time for reflection and questions."
A word from Louise on the subject matter:
"Let’s start from the premise that a diverse and inclusive environment can lead to more creativity and more enriching collaboration. Yet very often diversity & inclusion (“D&I”) work is associated only with gender and/or nationality. When that happens, we D&I practitioners lose a lot of potential allies and change-makers who feel the topic is not relevant to them. With this interactive presentation, we gain a better understanding of the invisible diversity dimensions that unite us and their relevance to our daily interactions in the workplace. Bring your phones and some curiosity, you’ll need both."
Additional information concerning the use of online polls, such as Mentimeter:
"Presenters and trainers, myself included, often use interactive cloud-based on-line platforms to enhance audience engagement and to create a shared community experience. As you know, all on-line browsing or internet activity requires the IP address of the device being used (the web cannot function without it). An IP address is a string of numbers assigned to a device, which allows the device to connect to and interact with the internet. Participation in a Mentimeter (or similar) on-line poll allows the audience to vote directly via the internet browser using a mobile phone or computer, and to view the results in live-time. No log-in, or provision of e-mail address is required to participate in such a poll. As such participation is deemed (in the words of our IT Chief Security Officer) as “pseudonymous”."
Further information on pseudonymous personal data is available on the ICO website.
