Master's programme in Physics - Particle Physics - Courses
Please note that you have to meet the requirements listed under Degree requirements to obtain a master's degree in physics. In particular, you have to taken the required number of listed courses (or equivalent for international students) as a bachelor or master student. If you are in doubt about whether you meet this requirement, please contact the programme coordinator.

Study plan
The master's programme in particle physics consists of a number of mandatory and optional courses, and a project work. The courses are listed below, with links to course homepages. You will select two courses for each study period.
Students who started in 2020 or later must take Quantum physics in research and society (FYSN21) and Quantum mechanics (FYSN27). You must also take at least three of the four alternative-compulsory courses that are marked with # in the list below.
First semester, autumn
1st period

- Quantum mechanics, FYSN27 (mandatory)

2nd period

Second semester, spring

Second year: Master's degree project
The master's degree project can usually be started only when all mandatory courses are passed. You will start the project in first study period of autumn or spring, either are a 30-credit project or a 60-credit project:
- Master's diploma work, 60 credits, FYSM64
- Master's diploma work, 30 credits, FYSM34, plus 30 credits in additional elective courses
