Borrow – do it yourself
You can register your loans yourself via the computer outside the library's information desk, when the library staff is not available. Instructions are on the wall behind the computer. You need your LU card if you are a student or employee, your library card if you are an external user, and your PIN code.

If the book is available at another library within Lund University you can order it and pick it up at the Physics or Astronomy Library. Search for the book in the library catalogue, LUBcat and register pickup location. E-books are downloaded directly to your electronic device.

Your library card

Students and employees at Lund University use their LU card when borrowing an item at the library. To activate the card for borrowing, you must log in to the library catalogue LUBcat with your student or LUCAT account and select patron category and home library. Others can apply for a library card in the library information desk. Don't forget to bring a valid photo ID.

The Loan period and the renewals

The loan period for a book from the Physics and astronomy Library is 28 days. If no one have requested the book, the loan will be automatically renewed for another period 5 times for students and 12 times for researchers and teachers.
Journals and reference books can not be borrowed but can be read in the library.

Course literature

To ensure that you get the latest issue of your course literature, please visit the web page for your course first.

Then search for the book in the library catalogue. All course literature is located at the Physics Library Information Desk and can be borrowed during opening hours. We have one copy for in-house loan only, and at least one that can be checked out for 14 days. Note! Overdue fine is 10 SEK a day.

The course codes are registered in the library catalogue, which makes it possible for you to access a list of currently used textbooks. Our policy is to purchase all compulsory course books in E-book format when available.

You can also combine the search processed by using the below link with the course code and this will give you a list of books used on a specific course.

On the student pages on Lund University’s central student website, you can read more about how to obtain course literature.

If a book or article is not available at any of the libraries at Lund University, we can borrow it for you from another library. Interlibrary loans are picked up and returned in the Physics or Astronomy Library. You need your LU card if you are a student or employee and your PIN code.
