Incoming exchange students

Welcome to apply for exchange studies in physics at Lund University! Most of our intermediate and all of our advanced courses are taught in English. We recommend one year of exchange.

Application procedure

The term exchange student implies that your home university has a formal agreement for exchange studies with Lund University. The agreement can also be specific to the Faculty of Science or to us, the Department of Physics at Lund University.

You apply for the exchange program at your home university; either through your central International office or through an international coordinator at your department or faculty. You must have sufficient knowledge of the English language, but you don't need to prove it by a test result (e.g. TOEFL).

Your home university nominates you before you can formally apply for exchange studies at Lund University.

Once you have been selected and nominated by your home university to come on an exchange, you will receive a link to the special online application for nominated exchange students to formally apply for exchange studies. This application link will be provided either by your home university coordinator, or directly from the coordinator at Lund University.

The nomination period

  • 15 March - 23 April for ensuing autumn terms and whole academic years
  • 15 October for ensuing spring terms

Coordinators will receive information about how to nominate your students by e-mail.

The application periods for nominated exchange students

  • 1 April - 25 April for the ensuing autumn (September) term exchange studies
  • 1 October - 25 October for the ensuing spring (January) term exchange studies

Students will receive information about how to apply on-line after having been nominated by your coordinator at your home university.

Exchange students do not apply through the University Admissions in Sweden website.

The application has to include your transcript of records, and a list of the courses that are not included in the transcripts, but that you will be enrolled in before your exchange studies.

In Physics you normally take two courses at a time. The courses are part-time courses and include lectures, seminars, and laboratory sessions. The courses are usually of 7,5 ECTS credits and last for one period. The academic year are divided into 4 periods. Two per term.

You will find information about how to apply for housing, Swedish language courses, and mentor and orientation programs on-line by using the link to the application form. Note that the form is only available during the application periods.
