Mats Lindroos has suddenly left us. Until recently, he worked at the Department of Physics. We remember him as a passionate, brave and valued colleague.

Mats was an adjunct professor at the Division of Particle and Nuclear Physics. His colleagues at the research division miss a valued fellow researcher:

"Mats Lindroos, in memoriam

It was with great regret that we learnt of the sudden death of Mats Lindroos (1961-2024). Until his last days, he continued to work with passion, courage, and endurance. His legacy will endure through the impact he has made in science and technology.

He will be dearly missed by all who had the privilege of knowing him as a colleague, gifted and creative scientist, as well as a friend.

We deeply mourn the loss of Mats Lindroos and will remember him fondly."

For many years, Mats Lindroos also worked at the ESS, where he led the development of the research facility's accelerator division. His colleagues at ESS have written a memorial, which is available on the ESS website.
